SECTOR · WAREHOUSING & LOGISTICS

Electrical work for the firms moving things.

sEast Lancashire has a stronger aerospace supply chain than most people realise. BAE Systems at Samlesbury anchors a wider network of Tier 2 and Tier 3 component manufacturers, precision engineering firms and MRO operations across the region.

WHY WAREHOUSING

Warehousing in East Lancashire is quietly enormous.

The M65 corridor between Blackburn and Burnley quietly does a lot of the country’s regional distribution and 3PL work. Frontier Park, Burnley Bridge, Network 65, Whitebirk, Walker Industrial Estate — these aren’t small operations. They’re full of distribution centres serving retail chains, e-commerce hubs, cold storage operations and regional logistics for clients across the UK.

Warehouse electrical work has a particular shape to it. The lighting load is huge — high-bay arrays running 24/7 across hundreds of fittings. The mechanical handling kit (conveyors, sortation, AGVs) needs reliable supplies that can’t go down. The yard lighting, gate barriers, EV charging for fleet vehicles and cold storage refrigeration loads all add up to a complex electrical picture.

We’ve done enough warehouse work to know how it differs from general industrial. The big variable is the working pattern: distribution operations rarely close, and any electrical work has to fit into the brief windows when inbound and outbound traffic is paused. Most of our warehouse work is scheduled out-of-hours, with phased weekend windows for larger jobs.
